Favre to Sign with Vikings

ESPN - Brett Favre will sign a contract with the Minnesota Vikings for between $10 million to $12 million, according to sources that spoke with ESPN senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. Favre will need to still pass a physical.

Strasburg Signed Deal with 77 Seconds to Spare

Wall Street Journal - Stephen Strasburg signed his record-setting, four-year, $15.1-million contract only 77 seconds before midnight. If Strasburg hadn’t signed by then, he would have re-entered the draft next year. Instead of cursing Strasburg and hard-nosed agent Scott Boras this morning, Nats fans can hope better days are coming.

Warriors Reject Orlando's Offer for Watson

RealGM - The Magic tried to get guard C.J. Watson in a sign-and-trade from the Warriors, but Golden State turned down an offer. Orlando offered a package that included veteran point guard Anthony Johnson, a future first-round pick and cash, multiple sources told RealGM's Alex Kennedy. Golden State general manager Larry Riley told the Oakland Tribune on Monday that the club had received "many offers" for Watson, a restricted free agent. The Magic made the offer over the weekend, and the Warriors officially declined it on Monday.

Red Wings Sign Bertuzzi

ESPN - The Red Wings have agreed to terms on a deal with Todd Bertuzzi pending the free-agent forward passing a physical, sources told ESPN.com's Pierre LeBrun on Tuesday. The one-year deal is "worth around $1.5 million," a source said.

Marvin Harrison Wants to Play

Pro Football Talk - Marvin Harrison would like to play in the NFL this season, if given the opportunity. Harrison hasn't received much interest on the free agent market partially because many teams weren't sure if the wide receiver even wanted to play. The Titans and a number of other teams have inquired about Harrison, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Rangers Trade for Pudge

MLB.com - The Rangers completed a trade with the Houston Astros on Tuesday to reacquire Ivan Rodriguez for two players, according to multiple sources. The Astros will receive a Minor League player and a player to be named later. Rodriguez, 37, a 13-time Gold Glove winner, has been told that Taylor Teagarden will remain the Rangers' No. 1 catcher. The Rangers had been looking for a catcher after Jarrod Saltalamacchia went on the disabled list with a sore right arm. Saltalamacchia could be out for the remainder of the season. Rodriguez, 37, is hitting .251 with eight home runs and 34 RBIs in 93 games and 344 plate appearances for the Astros. He is expected to join the Rangers on Tuesday night but probably won't be activated until Wednesday.

Mets Deal for Anderson Hernandez

Arizona Republic - Amaré Stoudemire participated in his first on-court workout on Tuesday since undergoing a minor operation six weeks ago. The procedure was to remove fluid from his right eye after he initially had surgery to repair a detached retina in February. Stoudemire was limited to shooting and conditioning, according to Suns head trainer Aaron Nelson. "He's extremely motivated to have a good year and preparing well for it," general manager Steve Kerr told the Arizona Republic.

Chelios Wants to Play for Leafs

Toronto Sun - Chris Chelios is lobbying for a job with the Maple Leafs. Chelios asked coach Ron Wilson if the Leafs were in the market for a veteran defenseman on Monday, according to the Toronto Sun. "He still wants to play," Wilson said. Chelios, 47, didn't have his contract renewed by the Red Wings at the end of last season, but isn't ready to retire. "You can make an argument that he's the greatest American player of all time," Wilson said. "I know some people will say (Pat) Lafontaine and some will say (Mike) Modano. But Chelios is a true warrior, he's been around for all the great battles."

Grizzlies Unlikely to Add Iverson, William

Memphis Commercial Appeal - The Grizzlies have been looking for a guard, but free agent options Allen Iverson and Jason Williams are expected to play elsewhere. Memphis offered Williams a one-year, minimum-salary contract deal last week, but he has continued working out for other clubs. The Magic and Knicks are interested in Williams. Iverson updated his Twitter page several times on Tuesday, mentioning that he is waiting for calls from the Bobcats, Heat and Knicks. There was no mention of the Grizzlies.

Jets Ellis Suspended, Fined

Yahoo! Sports - Jets defensive end Shaun Ellis has been suspended for one game and fined $100,000 for violating the league's substance abuse policy. Ellis, 31, was arrested in November and charged with possession of marijuana, speeding and driving without insurance. "I wasn't surprised," Ellis told the Associated Press. "I knew there was a possibility of that. The league made a decision. That's what I have to go by and I have to accept it."
